Who we are

Founded in 2024 by Jeffrey Jansen and Ryan Endika Chandra, Sawah Cyber Security is an independent cybersecurity firm based in Bali, Indonesia. Our team consists of passionate and dedicated team of cybersecurity experts specialized in offensive and defensive security services.

Jeffrey Jansen
Jeffrey began his career as software developer with a background in digital forensics. In 2010 he transitioned into ethical hacking, drawn by the challenges and excitement of identifying vulnerabilities and exploiting them in systems and IT infrastructure. In 2016 he co-founded Access42, a cybersecurity company in the Netherlands, where he broadened his experiences. At the start of 2024, Jeffrey left Access42 and embarked a new journey in Indonesia to make a difference. Combining his professional cybersecurity expertise with his Indonesian-Dutch heritage, Jeffrey aims to bridge Asian and European perspectives, building  collaboration and building stronger cybersecurity resilience.

Ryan Endika Chandra
Ryan has a diverse background in various IT positions, including digital forensics, penetration testing, risk management and governance. Years ago, he attempted to setup a cybersecurity company in Bali, but Indonesia was not yet ready for such an initiative. Instead, he moved to Japan and co-founded a cybersecurity company to help businesses in Japan, achieving success and expanding his international experience. As a key member of the management team, Ryan contributes his expertise on both technical and strategic levels.

Our founding story
After returning to Indonesia, Ryan and Jeffrey connected in Canggu, spending hours discussing the challenges businesses face, the cybersecurity market differences in Europe and Asia, and how they could offer innovative solutions to solve these cybersecurity challenges for their customers.

Around this time, in June 2024, the Indonesian government’s National Data Center got hit by a ransomware attack and already suffered from a series of data breaches before. Seeing the government struggle to respond effectively to this crisis, Jeffrey knew he couldn’t simply stand by. Realizing the urgency of the situation, he saw this as the right moment to make a change by launching Sawah Cyber Security in Bali, together with Ryan onboard in the team. Motivated by a shared vision, Sawah Cyber Security officially launched on December 1, 2024.

Jeffrey Jansen (Director)
Jeffrey began his career as software developer with a background in digital forensics. We believe Bali has much potential to lead in cybersecurity innovation. While the focus is often “Jakarta, Jakarta, Jakarta,” we aim to break that barrier and position Sawah Cyber Security in Indonesia as the cybersecurity key player in Bali. 

What is Sawah?

At Sawah Cyber Security we draw inspiration from the universal symbol of rice, a vital resource that connects people and nations,  such as the Netherlands and Indonesia.

The definition of “sawah”:
“an irrigated rice or paddy-field usually found in Indonesia or Malaysia”

In Indonesia, a “sawah” is a carefully cultivated rice field, where attention to detail and precision are essential. Rice not only plays a crucial role in Indonesia but also connects cultures around the world, including the Netherlands, where it holds importance in both trade and cuisine.

Just as rice brings people and nations together, our approach to cybersecurity bridges the gap between businesses and their long-term security needs. We are committed to building lasting relationships with our customers, grounded in trust and collaboration, much like the care needed to cultivate a sawah.
